Outside of my main research and data science work, I am passionate about popular science communication, media engagement, and creative pursuits like theatre and music.
Science & Media
I strive to make scientific concepts and data-driven insights accessible to the general public through tutorials, popular science writing, and media features.

🎵 Music & Audio Dramas
My wife Dishari and I run a YouTube music channel - গানের ঝরনাতলায় | Dishari and Rupam - where we share acoustic renditions of our favorite songs.
We also perform in Kochi Songsod, an online production group focusing on Bengali audio dramas and cultural audio productions.
✍️ Bengali Popular Science Writing
I write popular science articles in my mother tongue, Bengali, to help make stats and data science approachable for younger students.
My career guidance piece was featured in the book Bigyaner Jogot (World of Science) for pre-college teens, published during the 2023 Kolkata International Book Fair.
🎭 Theatre & Sound Design
Between May 2022 and October 2024, I worked as a sound projectionist for the Michigan Literary and Theatrical Society (MILITS).
I managed soundscapes and live audio projection for four major productions: Sararattir, Opriyo Sotyo, Ghughudanga, and Durghatona, which were performed at several prominent Bengali/Indian theatre festivals across the United States.
🧠 Quizzing
I have been an active competitive quizzer since 2007. I was a founding member of the quizzing group Sheyal Pundits at ISI Kolkata, and a graduate member of the University of Michigan Quizbowl team.
